El factor de seguridad inicial era inferior al valor mínimo recomendado por las normas técnicas brasileñas, pero sin indicar la ruptura inminente. Los parámetros de resistencia al corte y el perfil estratigráfico del suelo se obtuvieron con base en los resultados de ensayos de penetración estándar (SPT). En este artículo se presenta el análisis de la estabilidad de un talud de carretera, situado en Guarulhos, São Paulo, Brasil. En este contexto, el análisis de estabilidad se convierte en un problema muy complejo ya que hay un gran número de incertidumbres implicadas en la interpretación. Los movimientos de masas en taludes naturales pueden causar grandes pérdidas humanas y materiales para una sociedad. : slope stability numerical modeling probabilistic analysis Therefore, numerical modeling is shown to be a complex and effective tool for implementation of conventional analyses of slope stability. However, additional analyses which incorporated the influence of critical periods of rain and probabilistic analysis indicated that the stability of the section was unsatisfactory. The initial factor of safety was below the minimum value recommended by the Brazilian technical standards, but did not indicate imminent failure. The shear strength parameters of the soil and the stratigraphic profile were defined based on the results of Standard Penetration Tests (SPT). This paper presents an analysis of the stability of a highway slope, located near the city of Guarulhos, in São Paulo, Brazil. In this context, stability analyses become quite complex since there are a large number of uncertainties involved in the interpretation of the problem. Mass movement in natural slopes can cause great material and human loss for society.
